Is it permissible to use stories of the Prophets found in the New and Old Testament as well as other narrations from the children of Israel? | Shaykh Abdul-Azīz Āl us-Shaykh

Question: Is it permissible to use stories of the Prophets found in the New and Old Testament as well as other narrations from the children of Israel?

Answer: Allah the Exalted said, “Alif-Lam-Ra. These are the Verses of the Clear Book (the Quran). Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran in order that you may understand. We relate unto you (Muhammad) the best of stories through Our Revelations unto you, of this Quran. And before this, you were among those who knew nothing about it (the Quran).” (Surah 12: 1-3)

And He said, “Such are some of the stories of the unseen, which We have revealed to you: before this, neither you nor your people knew them.” (Surah 11: 49)

Therefore the stories from the Quran are not in need of anything else, not the Old Testament or the New Testament, nor any other book. We believe in the other books that were sent down to the Prophets but Allah has sufficed us with the Quran and its stories, so we don’t need any other book.
This Quran is a narration of truth. “Verily this is the true account; there is no god worthy of worship except Allah.” (Surah 3: 62) Therefore it is appropriate for us to take our admonitions, our stories, and our lessons from this mighty book.

As for the previous books, then there time has come to an end, and they have not returned to their previous positions. Because Allah the Exalted has combined the meanings of all of them in the Quran, so the Quran became superior over the other books, and the Quran has became a replace for all of them. Therefore we suffice ourselves with the Quran, its stories and its information.
