It is NOT Permissible for Women to do Jihād | Shaykh Sālih bin Fawzān Al-Fawzān
In light of recent events in the UK & elsewhere where young and foolish women are travelling from their families and homes to Irāq and Syria to fight alongside terrorist organisations like ISIS, it should be known the actions of these ignorant women are in opposition to the Islāmic Legislation. The Scholars have explained that ISIS and other groups are upon the way of Khawārij & their actions are not Jihād but rather terrorism. Moreover, one of the major Scholars of our times Shaykh Sālih Al-Fawzān explains women are not to partake in Jihād under a legitimate military of a Muslim country, so what about these foolish women who go to fight with these terrorist organisations like ISIS?!
Questioner: O noble Shaykh, what is the ruling on a woman being a soldier in the military; is this resemblance of the Jews and the Christians?
Shaykh Sālih Al-Fawzān: This is not permissible; it is not permissible for a woman to be a soldier in the military. The woman is not from those who perform Jihād. This is to burden her beyond her scope of ability, and to expose her to trials, and evil, and to remove her from her femininity. To task her with the job of men is not permissible. This is from the actions of the disbelievers; this is not from the actions of the Muslims. The Muslims do not make soldiers out of women; they do not make women into soldiers. This is only from the actions of the disbelievers, or from the actions of the Arabs who are upon the path of the disbelievers, from the communist, Bāthists, and other than them. And they are not used as a proof. Na’am.
